Lyall Nash, CPAC Chair; Kevin O’Donnell, PLCAC Executive Director; and Karman Jiri, PLCAC Office Manager & Convention Coordinator, attended the 10th Indigenous Resources Opportunities Conference (IROC) in Nanaimo, BC from June 3 to June 5, 2026.

The event brought together many Indigenous community leaders, Elders, government officials and industry representatives. The theme of the conference was “Working together With the Land”. The focus of discussions was respectful and equitable resource development, economic empowerment and pathways to economic reconciliation. Among the keynote speakers were the Honourable David Eby, Premier of British Columbia; Leonard Krog, Nanaimo’s Mayor; Kendra Johnston, Assistant Deputy Minister – Ministry of Mining and Critical Minerals in British Columbia; and Aa:liya Warbus, MLA for Chilliwack-Cultus Lake & Official Opposition House Leader of the Government of B.C.
Dallas Smith, President of the Nanwakolas Council, offered a hopeful perspective on the future of reconciliation, reminding attendees that meaningful progress remains possible even in a time of global disruption and change.
